Resource is honored to share that our firm was named the 2024 Rethinking The Future Awards Winner for Signage Design (Built). Our winning project, Electric Owl Studios, stood out for its seamless integration of sustainability, functionality, and visual storytelling—demonstrating how signage can be both a wayfinding tool and a key element of a space’s identity.
ARRIVAL
Sparking delight and surprise, the ever-watchful eyes of the owl mascot greet you from the moment you arrive onsite. Wood monument signage references the studio’s commitment to environmental responsibility while infusing warmth into the design.
WAYFINDING
With such a large campus, including two sound stages, a mill shop, wardrobe, and an administrative office building, wayfinding signage had to be accessible to both drivers and pedestrians. Warm, wood tones stand out against dark gray, while yellow creates bright, eye-catching directional details. Larger road signs also light up at night, a touch that is both functional and a moment of homage to the inspiration behind the name “Electric Owl.”
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability efforts become the perfect canvas for brand reinforcement, from the tagline painted on the onsite water tower, to the “Greenest Studio on Earth” mural, and details like green roofs and electric vehicle charging stations. A live green wall also creates a decorative moment that brings the outdoors in.
SUPERGRAPHICS
The scale of the sound stages makes this zone an unmissable opportunity for brand impact. With the blue doors as a focal point, our brand neutrals and bright yellow add dynamic contrast. The logo supergraphic becomes another welcome moment, greeting people as they drive onto the lot.
DETAILS
Bringing in some quirkiness, the LED sign and owl wings showcase how the brand comes alive to connect with the people experiencing it through interactive, lnstagram-able moments. Thoughtful details, such as the hidden green layer on the office building’s sign, reinforce Electric Owl’s environmental commitments and values.
